Сюжет
Завдавати собі шкоди і болю – неймовірно просто, а от жити – справді важко. В епіцентрі серіалу опинився головний герой на ім'я Сем Лаудермілк. Чоловік середніх років довгий час був алкоголіком, але потім зумів пройти спеціальну програму і примудрився кинути пити. Зараз він відновлюється і працює консультантом, який допомагає людям позбутися від різних залежностей: в першу чергу боротися з алкоголізмом і наркоманією. Він, як ніхто, знає, через що проходять ці люди, і що відчувають. Але якщо ви думаєте, що він сповнений співчуття, ви помиляєтеся! Лаудермілк – грубий, жорсткий чувак, який щодня всіх дратує, говорить все, що думає, і не особливо зважає на чужі почуття. У нього своя, особлива методика, як працювати з залежними. Сем зрозумів, що кинути шкідливу звичку – це досить легко, а от зібрати своє життя по частинах, коли воно перетворилося на суцільний безлад – ось це вже може виявитися складним завданням.До нього звертаються за допомогою люди, які усвідомили, що самостійно не в змозі допомогти собі чи близьким.
І тоді в гру вступає наш герой, проте витримати його характер під силу далеко не кожному.
