У червні 1941 року кулеметна рота переміщується з казарми до плацдарму для підготовки вторгнення в Радянський Союз. Перша атака на радянські позиції відбувається на болотах. Після серії сутичок, солдати просуваються в Східну Карелію і перетинають старий кордон, втрачений під час Зимової війни. У жовтні 1941 року війська захоплюють і розграбовують місто Петрозаводськ, після чого роту переміщують до річки Свір для захисту від зимової атаки радянської армії. Далі стає тільки гарячіше... Це третя екранізація однойменного роману фінського письменника Вяйньо Лінна.
