Фільм «Поліція» французького кінорежисера Моріса Піали, що створений 1985 року, є не просто поліційною стрічкою, не звичайною комерційною кримінальною драмою, якими рясніє історія французького кінематографа. Це авторський фільм, дію якого, сказати б, рухає прихована релігійна пружина.Сюжет картини розгортає історію інспектора поліції, цілком брутальної, жорстокої, цинічної особи. Та, розслідуючи справу про торгівців наркотиками, інспектор знайомиться з дивною, непередбачуваною дівчиною, в яку закохується. Проблема ж у тім, що ця дівчина всіх обманює, й інспектор поліції не є тут винятком.
