Це оповідь-легенда, що має смислову ємність епосу, а не історичний фільм. Головна героїня Фауста народилася в часи терористичного режиму, ввібравши в себе жах насильства і смерті з колискових пісень — із молоком матері, зґвалтованої солдатами. Аби не зазнати такого поводження, дівчина тримає в інтимному місці картоплину, що має викликати огиду в потенційного ґвалтівника. Картоплина живе своїм життям і навіть проростає, а Фауста старанно уникає будь-якого контакту з навколишнім світом. Всі навкруги цураються таких, як вона, стверджуючи, що «це люди без душі, адже тільки страх панує всередині у них».
