Una de las muchachas del pueblo, Carmela, rompe el corazón de su pretendiente Antonio al enamorarse de Alfonso Guzmán, el actor principal, con el que tiene un idilio que finaliza cuando el equipo termina el rodaje de las escenas y se marcha de vuelta a Madrid. Carmela está enamorada de Alfonso, asà que decide dejar a su padre Ramón y a su tÃa Sebastiana y acudir a la gran ciudad para estar con su amado. Pero Alfonso, que en realidad es un sinvergüenza, no está enamorado de Carmela. Le cede un apartamento para que ella se establezca, donde se encuentran frecuentemente.
