На віддаленому шосе з'являється молодий зомбі на ім'я Отто. Він не має жодного уявлення, звідки він прийшов і куди прямує. Діставшись автостопом до Берліна і оселившись у покинутому парку розваг, він починає досліджувати місто. Незабаром його знаходить підпільна режисерка Медея Ярн, яка починає знімати про нього документальний фільм за підтримки своєї подруги Гелли Бент та її брата Адольфа, який керує камерою. Тим часом Медея все ще намагається закінчити "Мертвих людей" - епічний політико-порно-зомбі-фільм, над яким вона працювала роками. Вона переконує його зірку, Фріца Фрітце, дозволити вразливому Отто залишитися в його гостьовій спальні. Коли Отто виявляє, що у нього є гаманець, який містить інформацію про його минуле, до того, як він помер, він починає згадувати деталі про свого колишнього хлопця Рудольфа.
