Сюжет

Карл Копфрінгл, працівник крематорію в невеликому чеському містечку, виконує свою роботу з відданістю: перед тим, як кремувати тіло, він завжди гарно його оформлює. Дружина, син і донька Копфрінгла теж не можуть поскаржитися на брак уваги. Незабаром Чехія потрапляє до рук нацистів. Крематор пам'ятає, що в його жилах тече німецька кров, і відчуває можливості для просування. На жаль, його дружина наполовину єврейка, а син дружить з євреями. Але, як ми всі знаємо, деякі люди готові йти по головах, щоб просунутися своєю кар’єрою. Цей гротескний фільм Юрая Герца висміює не лише нацистських прибічників, а й вади всіх тоталітарних систем.

MikolÃ¡s and his brother Adam rob travelers for their tyrannical father KozlÃk. During one of their "jobs" they end up with a young German hostage whose father escapes to return news of the kidnapping and robbery to the King. Kozlik prepares for the wrath of the King, and sends MikolÃ¡s to pressure his neighbor Lazar to join him in war. Persuasion fails, and in vengeance MikolÃ¡s abducts Lazar's daughter Marketa, just as she was about to join a convent. The King, meantime, dispatches an army and the religious Lazar will be called upon to join hands against Kozlik. Stripped-down, surreal, and relentlessly grimy account of the shift from Paganism to Christianity.

LOVE HARVESTS IN SUMMER seems to anticipate 4 years the wrongful intrusion of the soviet tanks. And with the style of WEST SIDE STORY, puts music, color and emotion surrounding the born of a mate, first love in a youngs school, quite outdated and square. The movie ends better than "WEST SIDE" and even better than the sad czechoslovakian story. The scenes of the hops harvest to make the famous czech beer, the sky ever blue and all the conflict and debate that emerge in the czech society and inside of each member of the school, could have found an answer, flowering a little late in the so called czech spring.

It all starts when two men arrive at the asylum. Mr. Houdek, who goes to see little Honzik Slavata, the illegitimate child of his colleague, whom he wants to adopt, and young Standa Hurych, who takes up a position as a driver. The pretty nurse Magda mistakes Standa for his father and is angered by his reaction. However, when Mrs. Houdková insists that the adoption will not take place until the child's true father is known, Standa offers to help Magda track down the father. He immediately sets about the difficult task.
