У центрі сюжету опиняється Хакан — звичайний житель сучасного Стамбула, який володіє крамницею на ринку. Одного разу його спокійне і розмірене життя перевертається з ніг на голову, коли він несподівано знаходить у себе неймовірні здібності і дізнається, що пов'язаний з таємничим стародавнім орденом, створеним для захисту міста і його жителів. Йому також повідомляють про те, що Стамбулу загрожує величезна небезпека в обличчі могутніх сил, що іменуються «Безсмертними», і місія героя — зупинити їх за всяку ціну, навіть якщо він не готовий битися.
Сюжет

Ali is an upper class Muslim man, whose family holds a great deal of power in Baku, Azerbaijan. At that time, before World War One, Azerbaijan was part of the Russian Empire. Nino, Ali's lover, is from neighboring Georgia and is christian, but the two are deeply in love and elope to the countryside. The story follows the two, who get married, through World War One, which only sees some of Ali's friends sent off to war. After the Russians surrender, however, conflict comes to Baku. Ali fights the Bolsheviks with the Azerbaijani militia and Nino helps nurse wounded soldiers during the March Days massacre in Baku.

Дія фільма відбувається в приватному готелі в Туреччині, провінція Каппадокія. Власник готелю, колишній актор Айдін, живе з дружиною Ніхаль та розлученою сестрою Незлою. Окрім готелю, у Айдіна є також кілька будинків у містечку, які він здає в оренду. Фільм являє собою картини з життя перелічених головних та кількох другорядних персонажів.Не буду описувати всі достоїнства картини, золота пальмова гілка Каннського фестивалю говорить сама за себе. Скажу лиш, що це новий шедевр від Джейлана. Так, режисер за останні роки помітно змінився. Ранній Джейлан нагадував Тарковського і Антоніоні, а зараз з кожним новим фільмом він все більше нагадує Бергмана. Той теж любив копнути поглибше нутрощі людської душі.
Одну з основних ідей фільма можна висловити коротко словами одного з персонажів: люди не змінюються. Навіть у самому кінці стрічки глядачу може здатися, что вот-вот ДА, но... НЄТ! (c)Голохвастов.

He lives a bohemian lifestyle and has a happy go lucky, carefree, eccentric (such as believing in good luck charms) character, frequently distracting him from his work as a children's book illustrator, and eventually leading him to be abandoned by his boyfriend via e-mail. He is given solace and affection by her wealthy mother, who is fully supportive of him, and best friend and co-worker, Beste. In the meantime, he keeps seeing a young man in his dreams, who repeatedly calls him for help and rescue. One day he runs into this guy while getting on the bus, who is accompanied by his mother, and helps them get into their home as the young man was born without limbs.
