Luke Atkins and Captain Dan Saunders are ranchers in Piute Valley and are at odds with each other over a dam that Atkins is constructing to help the valley people. Their feud does nothing to help the romance of Saunders' son, Sheriff Ron Saunders and Atkins' daughter, Susan . The opposition to the dam that Saunders has led, makes him the prime suspect when the banker who is going to lend Atkins the money for the project is murdered, and Sheriff Saunders is forced to arrest his father. But Steve Brandon, mostly in his guise as the Durango Kid, does a bit of snooping and begins to suspect that the local storekeeper has an interest in more than just selling groceries.Written by

Their feud does nothing to help the romance of Saunders' son, Sheriff Ron Saunders and Atkins' daughter, Susan . Trying to acquire all the land in the Rio Perdido valley, Chick Mahoney (Don Harvey), Jed Mahoney (Myron Healey) and their gang, working under the orders of the mother of the Mahoney boys, Mrs. J.G. Mahoney (Myra McKinney), raids the Hyland ranch and kills the owner. Steve Armitage (Charles Starrett) arrives and lends his assistance to Mary Ellen Hyland (Gail Davis), the rancher's daughter, and her young brother Tod (Tommy Ivo). Steve learns that his old pal, Smiley (Smiley Burnette), is working for the Mahoney gang without realizing they are outlaws and killers, and also finds out the Mahoneys are anxious to grab the valley land because of an underground river running beneath it.Written by
