Бася, дочка шахтаря, працює на шахті сортувальницею. Скромна, тиха дівчина мріє про романтичне кохання. Якуб - зірка телесеріалів. Незважаючи на популярність, він не відчуває себе щасливим. Ролі в мильних операх його не влаштовують, але інших пропозицій він не отримує. Одного разу актор разом з групою з кількох людей приїжджає в Сілезію на свято з нагоди Дня шахтаря, який святкується в день святої Барбари, покровительки шахтарів. Бася, як іменинниця, зустрічає їх хлібом-сіллю. Приїжджі зі столиці не можуть знайти спільної мови з жителями Сілезії, не розуміючи їх прихильності до традицій. Це призводить до виникнення кількох неприємним інцидентам. Тим часом між Басею і Якубом починають зароджуватися справжні почуття.
