Роберта Глас, дружина щасливого бізнесмена, втомилася від безтурботного й багатого життя. Одного разу, переглядаючи стовпчик приватних оголошень у газеті, вона натикається на коротке послання - "Запекло шукаю Сьюзен". Роберта час від часу починає стежити за оголошеннями для Сьюзен, що з'являються в газеті, випробовуючи цікавість, що швидко наростала і бажання побачити ту дівчину, яку хтось так "запекло" бажає зустріти. Наступне оголошення пропонує Сьюзен зустріч й називає конкретне місце. Роберта відправляється до місця побачення. Але цікавість Роберти не приборкано. Вона починає стежити за Сьюзен, переслідуючи її по п'ятах. Роберті навіть вдається викупити куртку дівчини, у якій вона знаходить забутий ключ. Випробовуючи смак пригод, Роберта перетворюється в Сьюзен. Їй невтямки, що ця весела інтрига втягує її в небезпечну гру. За справжньою Сьюзен полює вбивця - дівчисько прихопило пару безцінних сережок, і хіть або й нехіть, їй, Роберті, прийдеться зустрітися із злочинцем…

Спритний кар'єрист, талановитий вискочка, полковник Альфред Віктор Редль з'явився на небосхилі міжнародної політики напередодні Першої світової війни. Дванадцять років на службі кронпринца були для Редля роками бездоганної діяльності - і протягом років нескінченних зрад і шпигунських маніпуляцій. Редль, який став жертвою російських шантажистів, зіграв вирішальну роль в провалі австрійської агентурної мережі в Росії і фактично паралізував австрійську контррозвідку.

Israel circa 1,000 B.C. The adult life of David, who would eventually become King of Israel, is presented. The blessing of the Prophets, as the voice of God, is required before the King can take any major action. It is because God is annoyed with King Saul for not following his word that the Prophet Samuel, taking his cues from God, surprisingly and unexpectedly anoints David, the teenaged and youngest of Jesse's four sons, the next King. Regardless, it isn't until David's encounter with Goliath that he and many of the Israelites believe he could and should be King. Believing the anointing of David undermines his rule, King Saul, whose army is far outnumbered by those of the enemy Philistines, takes one measure after another against David and by association at the peril of his army in battles against the Philistines. These moves by Saul do not sit well with many, but especially his son Jonathan, who supports David as the next King. Over David's eventual rule as King, he will have his own issues with God and the Prophets as often ruling by his emotions rather than by God's word, especially with regard to the treatment of his eldest son Absalom, and in his relationship with Bathsheba.
