Техас через три роки після громадянської війни. На невелике ранчо до родичів повертається дядечко Ітан. Але незабаром йому знову доводиться забути про мирне життя. На поселенців нападають індіанці, в живих залишаються тільки він і його племінник. Жінок індіанці вбили або забрали з собою.
