Емі і Нік Данни були, якщо подивитися з боку, зразковою парою. Під час кризи вони залишають Манхеттен, де жили, і переїжджають в Міссурі, рідне для Ніка місто. Проживши разом вже п'ять років, чоловік і дружина збираються влаштувати річницю весілля, на яку повинні прийти їхні близькі та знайомі. Однак гостей чекає сюрприз - зразковий чоловік заявляє, що Емі зникла. Хмари репортерів і поліцейських, чорна слава для чоловіка зниклої жінки і величезна кількість підозр, що саме Нік Данн розправився зі своєю коханою. When things start to go missing and furniture is smashed Bryony blames James but when she confronts him she finds herself facing a reality more terrifying than any nightmare. As her world crashes around her Bryony realises that he ate a way to reconnect with her son she and James will be separated for ever.
