В центрі документального фільму "Погляд тиші" - жертви геноциду в Індонезії 1965 року, яким вдалось вижити, а також сім'ї загиблих. Зокрема Аді, його старшого брата жорстоко вбили "борці з комунізмом". Анвар Конго з друзями танцювали в музичних номерах, заламували руки в гангстерських сценах фільму нуар та скакали преріями, мов справжні ковбої. Їхня спроба створити кіно святкується та обговорюється на телебаченні, незважаючи на те, що Анвар та його друзі - масові вбивці. Медан, Індонезія. Коли військові скинули індонезійський уряд у 1965 році, з дрібного гангстера, що збував квитки в кіно на чорному ринку, Анвар перетворився на керівника загону смерті. Він з друзями допомогли армії знищити більше мільйона комуністів, етнічних китайців та інтелектуалів менше, ніж за рік. В якості ката загону смерті Анвар власноруч вбив сотні людей. Документальна стрічка, переважна більшість творців якої вирішили залишитись анонімами.
