An owl teaches his class full of birds about melody. It's all around in nature. Only birds and man can sing; man "sings" even when he speaks. We see a quick survey of the stages of life, as captured by songs: the alphabet song for primary school, Here Comes the Bride, The Old Gray Mare, etc. Some inspirations for song are outlined in song: love, sailing, trains, the West, motherhood, etc., but "we never sing about brains." Finally, an example of how a simple melody can be expanded into a symphony: an elaborate version of the simple tune that opened the lesson.

Marjorie has to learn how to dance and act like a proper young lady. Flannery decides to write to the head office and asks if they are pigs or pets. While waiting for an answer, the pigs begin to multiply. After a few days, the station is literally filled with guinea pigs and Flannery finally realizes they are pets, not pigs. He goes to McMorehouse's home to deliver them but McMorehouse has moved. Flannery decides to send all the guinea pigs to the head office and learns his lesson about handling pets. Says Flannery, "If the animals come in singles or if they come in sets, if they've got four feet and they're alive, they'll be classified as pets!"

She brews up a potion that animates inanimate objects and sics them on Donald. He initially agrees to treat the boys, until he hears the witch call him a "pushover".
