Головний герой серіалу - простій американський хлопець Джастін Толчак, затюканий хлопчина, якому ніколи не стати популярним в школі, навпаки, всі лише потішаються над ним, раз у раз виставляючи на посміховисько. Мама Джастіна, Френні Толчак, з таким розвитком подій абсолютно не згодна і готова зробити все, щоб її синуля блиснув в школі, хоч би в останній рік навчання. Коли всі стандартні способи вичерпані, Френні за порадою директора школи вирішує узяти в сім'ю іноземного студента/школяра, мол так, у хлопця буде хоч би один кльовий друг!
