Moonzund (1987) is based on the eponymous book about the Russian Navy in the 1915-1917 WWI battles at the Moonzund Islands in the Baltic Sea. Two dramas are intertwined here - The World War 1 and The Great Love. Russian battleship "Novik" led by Captain Artenyev (Oleg Menshikov) wins a battle against the German ships. Captain Artenyev is in love with a beautiful lady-spy Klara (Lyudmila Nilskaya). They cannot be together because of the war and their professions. But they are in such love that all the war battles and battleships do not stop them, only their duties do. With a bearable dose of revolutionary propaganda.

The message of the head of the avalanche station that an avalanche could soon descend is not taken seriously: neither by vacationers, nor by the director of the camp site. Reckoning for recklessness comes very soon: an avalanche goes directly to the hotel. Only the experience and courage of rescuers helps to avoid great casualties.
