Альберто Джакометті – один із найвідоміших художників ХХ століття. Начебто у нього є і визнання колегами його творчого таланту, і багато грошей, і прекрасна дружина, яку він любить дражнити зв'язком із коханкою. Але Альберто втомився від життя, від постійної рутини й від того, що у нього все є. Доля зводить його з критиком Джеймсом Лордом, який позує для нового портрету художника.
