In this original variation on the Latin American telenovela (slow, emotional soap), life in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian big city jungle, is told in short, fast alternating scenes from the viewpoints of two sets of characters, all youngsters, but from both sides of unequal life: generally dark-skinned street-kids, which rarely come to anything better then begging and street crime, and generally white boys from the middle and upper classes, like João Victor, who have a shot at a better future thanks to an actual education. Yet each group simultaneously hates, fears and envies the other at some level when their worlds physically touch but socially remain unbridgeable...

60-і роки XX століття. «Місто Бога» - квартал в Ріо-де-Жанейро, де живуть головні герої - 8-річний Ракета, такий, що мріє стати фотографом, і його одноліток Дадінью. Дадінью бере участь в озброєному пограбуванні, організованому гангстером Кабалейрой, що живе по сусідству; з відома Кабалейри він здійснює своє перше вбивство. 70-і роки. Ракета постійно балансує між дрібними правопорушеннями і чесним життям. На рахунку у Дадінью вже декілька вбивств. Він очолює банду, якою управляє, використовуючи хитрість і холоднокровну зраду. Зрозумівши, що справжня влада і великі гроші може дати тільки контроль над торгівлею наркотиками в їх кварталі, він безжально йде до своєї мети. 80-і роки. Ракета нарешті отримує фотоапарат і здійснює свою дитячу мрію. Мрія Дадінью теж збулася: у 18 років він став найкрутішим торговцем наркотиками в Ріо. Що далі...

The program was adapted from stories and national stories, and plays by famous playwrights, screenwriters and signed by a number represented by several actors and actresses. The genres of the stories varied each week with the style of each director or author. Brava Gente in the stories ranged from comedies and dramas. In all 53 episodes were shown, broadcast on Tuesday nights.
