Сюжет (англ.)

In SÃ£o Paulo, the lonely forty and something year-old guitar teacher Baby lives a tedious life in a low middle-class apartment and is addicted in her only companion, the cigarettes. She has a constant friction with her two sisters, the executive Pop and the housewife Teca, because of the inheritance of the couch of their deceased Aunt Dinah. When the musician of a barbecue place Max moves to the next-door apartment, Baby has a crush on him. Sooner they have a love affair and Baby quits smoking with the support of a fellowship. However the insecure Baby feels jealous with the relationship of Max with his former woman Estelinha that keeps stalking him. One night, Baby follows Estelinha and when she leaves the building, Baby accidentally hits her; the hit-and-run Baby calls 911 but Estelinha dies. When the doorman Chico watches the tape of the surveillance camera, he hides the VHS tape from the police. Meanwhile Max moves to Baby's apartment and she lives a conflictive situation.

Сюжет (англ.)

The widow piano teacher LÃºcia and her unemployed teenage son Rafa move to a poor neighborhood in the periphery of SÃ£o Paulo after the bankrupting of her pension plan. Rafa a.k.a. Pilot tells his mother that he is going to the movie theater with his friend Beto, but they go to a street racing instead in a car that Beto has stolen in the workshop where he works. While seeking the documents, they find a revolver in the glove compartment. When Rafa hits the car of a black man in a maneuver, he shoots Beto on the chest. Rafa takes the gun and accidentally kills a girl. He is sent to prison and during one visit, LÃºcia meets the influent lawyer Ruiva and they befriend each other. Ruiva, who is one of the head of the criminal organization "Party", offers money to the needy LÃºcia to help her in minor wrongdoings, such as bringing illegal stuff to the inmates. Meanwhile the leaders of the powerful criminal organization have inner fights; when they are sent to a maximum security prison, they order rebellions in the prisons and havoc on the streets on the Mother's Day. LÃºcia gets a remission to Rafa for this day, but the teenager has obligations with the Party.
