Події фільму відбуваються на кухні одного з ресторанів у Нью-Йорку. Роботу в цьому ресторані отримує юна Естелліта з Мексики, і на її очах розгортається яскраве і різноманітне життя колективу, що складається переважно з латиноамериканців. Події відбуваються протягом одного дня і виглядають вони в багатьох аспектах умовно: інтер'єри виконані в стилі 1950-х років, герої явно не чули про стільниковий зв'язок, помітні елементи сюрреалізму.Літературною основою сценарію стала п'єса Арнольда Вескера «Кухня» (1957), яку в 1961 році екранізував Джеймс Хілл. Руїспаласіош переніс місце дії з Лондона в Нью-Йорк.
Сюжет
Події фільму відбуваються на кухні одного з ресторанів у Нью-Йорку. Дії картини розгортаються після того, як головній героїні Греті (Сурія Вега) покійна тітка Офелія (Маргарита Санс) залишає чималий спадок. Тепер дівчина стала власницею величезного старовинного маєтку. Щоб не було нудно одній, дівчина перебирається в своє нове житло разом із подругами. Однак, на думку покійної тітки, головна цінність, яка дісталася від неї племінниці – розкішний чорний кіт на прізвисько Беккер. І треба ж було такому трапитися, що з необережності дівчат кіт гине. Відразу ж після цього починається низка подій, від яких кров стигне у жилах. Подругам належить дізнатися всі страшні таємниці, які приховував у собі великий старовинний будинок.
Сюжет

Mexican Suitcase tells the story of the recovery of 4,500 negatives by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David 'Chim' Seymour taken during the Spanish Civil War found 70 years later in a closet in Mexico City. The film looks at the journey of these negatives from France to Mexico; their survival and looks at how Spain reflects today on its own history as well as those who escaped. Mexico was the only country to come to the rescue and support of the Spanish Republic and then honor and support the Republic in exile when the rest of the world turned its back. Mexican Suitcase looks at this unique story and these photos lost for seventy years.
