За мотивами однойменного твору Редьярда Кіплінґа.Командир 1-го батальйону Ратлендширського полку, полковник Брансвік мав надійного помічника, капітана Пінденні, і трьох здібних, але не завжди надійних рядових, Акройда, Маллоя та Сайкса, які протягом вісімнадцяти років були «королівськими льодяниками"; втікали, щоб випити, побитися та пограти в азартні ігри, коли могли. Всупереч їхнім бажанням, один з них мусив бути підвищений до сержанта, щоб розлучити їх. Вибір впав на Акройда. Після повідомлення про заворушення в Мірзабаді, Брансвік і його батальйон відкликано та підпорядковано суперникові полковнику Ґроту з 28-го гусарського полку та його офіційному ад’ютанту майору Мерсеру.
Сайкс і Маллой стають частиною невеличкого загону, що під командуванням Мерсера та Пінденні вирушає до покинутого форту в Імарі, в якості приманки для повстанців.

They are soon inseparable but when Jock dies and is buried in an unmarked grave, Lassie takes to sleeping in the churchyard to be near him. Jock's good friend John Traill is prepared to find a good home for Lassie but no matter how hard he tries, she always manages to get away and despite any obstacles put in her way, manages to get back to Jock's grave. It all comes to a head when a local magistrate orders her destroyed for not having a license leading Traill to take his case to a higher court.
