Історія двох геть не схожих між собою жінок, які опинилися у міжнародній зоні Танжер в 1955 році — напередодні її ліквідації, після якої Танжер став частиною Королівства Марокко. Молода американка Люсі Севідж відправляється в унікальне місце у Ґібралтарську протоку в надії розібратися в особистому житті, так і в прийдешніх суспільно-політичних змінах. Одна з найвпливовіших жінок Марокко Черіф Ламур намагається змінити світ навколо, чим ще більше привертає місцевого чиновника, до нестями в неї закоханого.

Mythological images from Aleister Crowley, cabalistic symbols, artifice, and magic combine to render the pleasure dome both as prison and as celebration.
