Двоє чоловіків — художник Адрієн і торговець антикваріатом Даніель — проводять літо у віллі на Лазуровому березі. Їхній спокій порушує поява юної дівчини Гайді, легковажної, самовпевненої і вродливої. Вона постійно оточує себе чоловіками, збираючи їхні погляди, як трофеї — «колекціонуючи» залицяльників.Між трьома героями поступово виникає тонка гра спокуси, ревнощів і самообману, у якій Ромер досліджує мораль, бажання й самовиправдання сучасної людини.
