У спробі протистояти глобальному потеплінню, населення Землі робить фатальну помилку, застосувавши небезпечну речовину для охолодження клімату. Після його застосування всі люди помирають від сильного холоду і вся поверхня планети замерзає. Життя залишилося лише у величезному поїзді, який мчить по магістралі, що проходить по всій земній кулі. Поїздом керує його винахідник – Вілфорд, який сконструював його ще до катаклізму.
