Джонні - білий коала, виступаючий в пересувному цирку для незвичайних звірів. Він - зірка, але все змінюється, коли в цирк приходить працювати знаменитий приборкувач звірів - тепер вся увага глядачів прикута до нього. На одному з переїздів Джонні і його приятелі, мавпа і ящірка Хемміш, випадково розгойдують клітку, вивалюються з фургона і опиняються посеред пустелі. Намагаючись знайти найкоротший шлях до цивілізації, вони натикаються на дивний оазис, де живуть різні тварини, в тому числі - біла коала Мінні.Звірі щасливі у своєму будинку, але їх життя псує величезний крокодил, який націлився захопити оазис з допомогою своїх підручних - вовків і гігантського грифа. Хемміш розповідає мешканцям оазису, що Джонні - справжній герой, зірка цирку, і що він захистить їх. Боязкуватий Джонні дійсно робить вигляд, що він - супергерой, адже він хоче сподобатися Мінні. І трапляється диво: під час нападу вовків Джонні випадково відбиває їх атаку. Ті розповідають крокодилу, що у оазису з'явився сильний захисник і той наказує викрасти його. Але вовки плутають Джонні з Мінні і крадуть її. Тепер Джоні доведеться дійсно бути хоробрим, щоб вирвати Мінні з лап крокодила.
