When Yusuf finds out about Zehra's secret affair with the town's stationmaster he gets disconcerted. Фільм являє собою картини з життя перелічених головних та кількох другорядних персонажів.Не буду описувати всі достоїнства картини, золота пальмова гілка Каннського фестивалю говорить сама за себе. Скажу лиш, що це новий шедевр від Джейлана. Так, режисер за останні роки помітно змінився. Ранній Джейлан нагадував Тарковського і Антоніоні, а зараз з кожним новим фільмом він все більше нагадує Бергмана. Той теж любив копнути поглибше нутрощі людської душі.
Одну з основних ідей фільма можна висловити коротко словами одного з персонажів: люди не змінюються. Навіть у самому кінці стрічки глядачу може здатися, что вот-вот ДА, но... НЄТ! (c)Голохвастов.

36-year-old Alis starts living in his car after his father kicks him out of the house. He shaves on the street, eats the food his mother brings over to his car, and applies to job adverts that his mother marks in the newspaper for him. After a series of rejections, he finds himself working door-to-door marketing Karnaval brand carpet cleaners. An unusual bond forms between Alis and "Karnaval". Karnaval even moves in with Alis occupying the front seat of his car. In this new adventure of his, Alis meets a wedding cake-maker named Demet. She lives with her father ever since her mother's death, and dreams of hopping on her motorbike and moving to Istanbul where she would open up a bakery shop.

Початок літа. У селищі на півночі Туреччини Лале та її 4 сестри повертаються додому зі школи, невинно граючись з хлопцями. Аморальність їхніх ігор спричиняє скандал з неочікуваними наслідками. Родинний дім стрімко перетворюється на в'язницю: навчання домашньому господарству замінює школу, починають організовуватись весілля. П'ятеро сестер, що розділяють любов до свободи, знаходять шляхи впоратись з тиском, який на них чинять.
