1913 рік, Будапешт, серце Європи. Молода сповнена рішучості Ірис Лейтер приїжджає в столицю Угорщини. Там вона намагається влаштуватися на роботу модисткою в легендарну капелюшну крамницю, яка колись належала її покійним батькам. Новий власник виганяє колишню спадкоємицю, що стала жертвою жорстоких інтриг.
