Події фільму відбуваються в епоху Відродження. Імператор Священної Римської імперії Рудольф II, що жив у 1552—1612 роках бу відомим меценатом. Він запрошує до Праги багатьох митців і вчених, зокрема й алхіміків з різних країн, одержимий ідеєю знайти Ґолема, міфологічного глиняного гіганта, якого можна оживити за допомогою магії. Рудольф II сподівається, що Ґолем допоможе йому повернути молодість і стати господарем світу.А в цей час його придворні обмірковують, як знайти спосіб скинути його з престолу. Однак їх планам може перешкодити одна обставина — імператорський пекар, ув'язнений до темниці за розбазарювання королівських рогаликів, дивно схожий на Рудольфа II. The song "Ribwort and Rosemary" by Ales Brabec (Ludek Sobota), a shy supply teacher of musical school, wins the music festival in Krumlov. The song interpreter Marcela (Helena Vondrácková) from a Prague Theatre in Underground realizes that such songs would be exactly what their theatre needs. Ales firstly hesitates, but finding out that his fiancée has just left him, he decides to grasp the chance and leave to Prague with Marcela. The theatre needs several songs to be ready for a new play, so Ales has all the possible conditions and comfort to compose, he falls in love with Marcela instead, staring vacantly and doing nothing. The theatre manager's wife, a student of psychology, is convinced that what Ales needs to compose good songs is not peace and silence, but fear. So, the manager decides to turn Ales's life into horror.Written by

The invincible agent Cyril Juan Borguette alias W4C (Jan Kacer) has been assigned a mission to go to a hotel in Prague, get hold of a saltcellar with a plan for the military exploitation of Venus hidden in it, and hand it over to the beautiful agent Alice (Kveta Fialová). He will have to compete for the saltcellar with other agents working for the world's various greater and smaller powers. The head of the Prague counter-intelligence unit gets news of agent W4C's mission. Deficient in personnel, he nominates accountant Foustka (Jirà Sovák) as agent 13B. Mr Foustka takes his dog Pajda with him and the two head for the airport. Pajda helps him track down agent W4C in a classy hotel that becomes the battleground for the interests and plans of the secret agents from different countries, each trying to get hold of the precious saltcellar.
