Друга половина XVI сторіччя. Під час одного з турнірів від шаблі Оґлу-хана, турецького аґи, загинув угорський дворянин Ґаспар Бабочаї. Його син Ласло присягається помститися за батька і висилає аґі виклик. Поєдинок повинен відбутися через рік. Весь цей час Ласло вчиться фехтуванню у відомого майстра і під час поєдинку перемагає Оґлу-хана. За перемогу по заповіту аґи він повинен одержати доньку володаря і всі його скарби. Але не він один бажає заволодіти багатством...
