Юрій Орлов – простий одеський хлопець, чиї батьки колись видали себе за євреїв, аби виїхати з Радянського Союзу в Америку. У Штатах родина Орлових жила на Брайтон-біч більш ніж скромно. Орлов-тато все більше відчував себе євреєм, на превелике невдоволення Орлової-мами, брат Віталій працював кухарем у ресторані батька, а сам Юрій намагався знайти себе в житті, аж доки не виявив справжнього покликання: торгувати зброєю. І він почав власний бізнес, продаючи все, що міг – від автоматів Калашнікова до бойових вертольотів. За словами Юрія, він озброїв усі армії, крім Армії порятунку. Розквіт у справах Юрія розпочався тоді, коли розпався СРСР і Орлову відкрився доступ до збройних запасів, які зберігали в Україні. Утім за Орловим стежить інтерполівець Джек Валентайн, і лише неймовірна винахідливість Юрія та його везіння дозволяють до певного часу виходити сухим із води.

The film is a modern twist on a classic immigrant story, shot on locations in Liberia and New York. "Out of My Hand" is only the second foreign-production narrative feature film ever shot in Liberia and the first to be made in association with Liberia Movie Union, an affiliate of Liberian government. The film was premiered in the Panorama section at Berlinale and won Grand Jury Prize at LA Film Festival in 2015.
