Особливий акцент фільм робить на антирелігійні кампанії, агітаційних марші, а також фізкультурний побут доби. Перший звуковий фільм українського кіно Авангардист та апологет неігрового кіно Дзиґа Вертов з соратниками-кіноками Михаїлом Кауфманом та Єлізавєтою Свіловою переїхав працювати в Україну на ВУФКУ в 1927 році. Тут йому вдалося зняти три фільми й саме тут, в «Людині з кіноапаратом» (1929), вдалося реалізувати його давні задуми та експерименти описані ще в його першому маніфесті 1918 року.
