Юнту ненавидять мешканці села, де вона живе, особливо жінки, які підозрюють її в тому, що вона — відьма. Тільки вона може піднятися до ґроту розташованого високо в сусідніх горах, звідки під час повного місяця випромінюється таємниче синє сяйво, у спробах дібратися до якого загинуло багато сільських юнаків. Її виганяють із села, і вона починає жити в горах. Зрештою вона відкриває таємницю синього сяйва одному чоловікові, а той її зраджує.

The film is part of the popular cycle of mountain films of the 1920s and 1930s. Art direction was by Heinrich Richter. Based on a novel by Carl Haensel, the film depicts the battle between British and Italian climbers to be the first to climb the Matterhorn. Trenker later remade the film as The Challenge in 1938.
