У сучасному Парижі німецький режисер Томас приймає свою сексуальність через бурхливий роман із молодою жінкою на ім’я Агата, імпульс, який розмиває межі, що визначають його стосунки з чоловіком Мартіном. Коли Мартін починає власний позашлюбний роман, він успішно повертає увагу свого чоловіка, водночас розкриваючи ревнощі Томаса. Борючись із суперечливими емоціями, Томас повинен або прийняти рамки свого шлюбу, або змиритися з тим, що стосунки закінчилися.

Також стрічка містить цикл бесід із провідними дизайнерами сучасності щодо специфіки їхньої роботи, творчого процесу та естетичної складової шрифтів.
