Молоду поліцейську Йон Нам переводять із Сеула до тихого приморського села після службового скандалу. Там вона знайомиться з мовчазною дівчинкою До Хі, яка живе у важких умовах і страждає від жорстокого вітчима. Після трагічної смерті бабусі дівчинки офіцерка вирішує прихистити її у своєму домі, намагаючись захистити від насильства. Проте поступово ситуація стає дедалі заплутанішою: чутки, упередження місцевих жителів і дивна поведінка До Хі змушують сумніватися у всьому. Межа між жертвою та маніпуляцією починає розмиватися, і Йон Нам опиняється перед складною моральною дилемою, де правда виявляється значно темнішою, ніж здавалося спочатку.
