Комедiйний мюзикл, створений на базi популярної бродвейської вистави. Спритний шериф (Рейнольдс) не хоче закривати мiсцевий бордель, вiдомий в окрузi пiд назвою "Курник", однак цього вiд нього вимагає мiсцева влада. Герой вагається, бо цим закладом керує його подруга (Партон). Тим часом до мiста приїздить вiдома телезiрка - невтомний борець за моральнiсть (Де-Луїс). Пiдготовлена ним серiя репортажiв про веселу дiяльнiсть "Курника" спонукає губернатора (Дарнiнг) та шерифа вжити рiшучих заходiв... Хоча автори картини час вiд часу втрачають вiдчуття смаку, вона мiстить кiлька дотепних епiзодiв. Свого часу фiльм мав великий успiх у кiнопрокатi США (чистий прибуток становив 47 млн. доларiв).
