1945 рік, весна, останні дні Другої Світової війни. Перемога відчутно близька, поляки, раніше об'єднані спільним ворогом і спільною бідою, тепер з політичних міркувань вбивають один одного. Країна на межі цивільного протистояння. Польща стала «радянською територією».Колишній студент Мацек, досвідчений і відважний боєць Опору, тепер одержав особливе завдання - ліквідовувати одного високопоставленого комуніста. Помилково Мацек і його командир стають винуватцями загибелі не партійного діяча, а двох простого робітників.

Сюжет
Після народження дитини Філіп купує 8-міліметрову камеру і перші любительські досліди присвячує дочці. У маленькому фабричному містечку кіноманський порив дилетанта-оператора не залишається непоміченим, і ось вже Філіп стає особистим помічником місцевого партійного боса.З підвищенням по службі росте і слава любителя; тільки погляд його на реальність через об'єктив стає все більш неприємним і нещадним і таким, що все менш влаштовує можновладців.
