Це історія двох братів. Старшого Рассела, який відсидів у в'язниці декілька років за ненавмисне вбивство. Він повертається у рідне місто і пробує жити далі. І молодшого Родні, який пройшов війну в Іраку і теж пробує знайти себе в житті. Старший, йдучи по стопах свого батька, йде працювати на завод, а молодший прагне легких грошей і грузне в боргах на тоталізаторі. Родні погоджується на нелегальні боксерські поєдинки, але це мало йому допомагає і він вмовляє букмекера влаштувати поєдинок на велику суму на території місцевого наркоторговця Гарлана ДеҐрота, розуміючи що вижити йому буде дуже важко.
