Історії молодих людей, які відстоюють власні права, долаючи чисельні перешкоди: від брутального військового режиму, який збирається придушити повстання танками, до корумпованих членів Братів мусульман, що використовують мечеті для маніпулювання електоратом. Активісти у нашому фільмі озброєні лише камерами, соціальними мережами, відео завантаженими на YouTube, а також рішучістю звільнити свій народ. Фільм «Майдан» вперше з’явився на екранах у вигляді чорнового монтаж на міжнародному кінофестивалі «Санденс» у січні 2013 року, де отримав Приз глядацьких симпатій у категорії «Міжнародне документальне кіно». У той момент, коли творці фільму отримували нагороду, головні герої продовжували боротьбу на вулицях Єгипту. Тоді перший президент, обраний демократичним шляхом, оголосив про надання собі повноважень, що перевищували ті, які мав щойно повалений диктатор.
