1906 рік. Геологічна експедиція знаходить в глухому районі Китаю поховання. Останки вантажаться в Пекіні на транссибірський експрес. Вже при вантаженні російський священик стверджує, що там нечиста сила. В дорозі "окам’янілість", як назвав її Лі, відповідаючи священикові на його питання, відтанула і прочумалася. Виявилося, що це - якась інопланетна тварюка, яка буквально висмоктувала з людей душі, - і не дивно, оскільки 2 мільйони років вона нічого не їла.
