1980-і роки. На залитому сонцем острові Гаїті іноземці проводять свою відпустку, в оточеній, пальмами раю прибережних готелів. Три американки - Бренд, Елен і Сью - приїжджають на острів, щоб відпочити від нудної роботи і сімейного життя. Вони знаходять те, що шукають, в Легбі - загадковому місцевому адонісі, чия краса і пристрасть їх зачарувала.Пристрасть відведе їх з позолоченої клітки туризму і розплющить їм очі на убогий і небезпечний світ Гаїті під кінець кривавого правління сумно знаменитого Крихти Дюка Дювальє.
