Сюжет фільму побудований на ідеях французького ученого-медика і філософа Анрі Лаборі, який сам озвучує їх у фільмі. Три людські долі покликані проілюструвати ідеї Лаборі про зв'язок людської психології і суспільства. На прикладі трьох персонажів учений доводить, що всі людські реакції обумовлені умовами, в яких пройшло їхнє дитинство.

A popular Lucas-approved short that was in some markets aired in theaters as a companion piece to Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Sir Maddox, a knight returning from the Crusades, finds his village and keep destroyed by unknown attackers. Most of the inhabitants are dead, including his family, and the few that did survive have become infected with a disease, possibly the plague. Having left nothing to live for, Sir Maddox decides to track the attackers down and avenge his family and village. In the nearby forest, he stops by a lake, but accidentally falls into it and almost drowns due to the weight of his armor. However, a mysterious beautiful maiden in white appears to him and he is somehow saved. Thankful beyond words, he asks who she is and learns that she's a prisoner of Black Angel, a mysterious eerie knight in black armor. Sir Maddox immediately vows to free her, but she, saddened, implores him to stay away from the evil knight. His word being his bond, Sir Maddox tracks the ominous Black Angel down anyway with the suspicious help of a strange shady snickering peasant and learns firsthand why the creature is so feared.

Young abandoned brontosaur Igua befriends him and takes care of him. While growing up, O befriends other dinosaurs as well, but once he realizes that he's not a dinosaur, he decides to find his own path in life and brakes off his friendship with Igua in a fit of anger. Igua wants to mend their friendship and decides to look for O until he finds him again. While roaming the prehistoric and even ice age world trying to survive on his own, O has many dangerous misadventures, becomes an inventor of fire and other important things, finds love with a somewhat humanoid feline creature in heat and eventually becomes a true renaissance man. During one of his misadventures, O stumbles upon his family again and, despite all, he's happy to see them. Unfortunately, when he tries to share his knowledge and progressive way of thinking with them, his primitive evil dumb brother Ah, who now leads the tribe, uses his teachings for mass destruction with the tribe's support. Throughout the movie, a soundtrack composed of rock songs tangentially related to the plot plays.
