Веселун Фернан Жувен після тринадцяти років, проведених у Німеччині, повертається на батьківщину в маленьке містечко у Франції. І що ж він бачить? Його дружина вийшла заміж за нормандця Андре Коломбе, що господарює в його ресторані!Усі вважають Фернана загиблим на війні. Він стає дійсним героєм, а в красуні Крістін тепер два чоловіки. Але хто з них дійсний?
Виявившись у лоскітливому положенні, Крістін на час відкидає обох. А чоловіки й не думають нудьгувати! Вони стали добрими друзями й насолоджуються дорогоцінною волею.
