Darlene, earthy and unmarried, returns to the cane fields of Bahia with her young son. There, over time, she balances the pride, desire, jealousy, and tolerance of three men. Osias, an older man, proud of a house he's built, proposes marriage; she accepts. He retires to his hammock, she works hard, and in a few years births a second son, much darker than Osias. Then, he takes in his cousin Zezinho, almost as old as he, a good cook, so Osias is happy. Darlene smiles at Zezinho. Another son arrives, light-skinned like Zezinho. Next, Darlene meets Ciro, young and handsome, and invites him to dinner. Osias insists Ciro stay. When another son arrives, what will the proud Osias do?

Es la historia de el joven Manuel, quien en su veloz moto sale a recorrer la Patagonia argentina en busca de su padre, y de si mismo. En medio de su viaje encontrará lo inesperado, que se llama Carolina, y entre ellos nacerá algo más que una amistad. Pero para escapar de lo obvio, Olivera eligió el género policial, que implica una pelea, un muerto, una comisaría, un interrogatorio y la huida de Manuel y Carolina. Los clásicos personajes raros empezarán a desfilar por este viaje, haciendo más atractiva la reciente relación entre estos dos adolescentes, e incluso pasearán con un grupo de motoqueros. Pero la ley seguirá el camino de la joven pareja, que decide separarse para eludirla, y así Manuel puede retomar su original objetivo y rastrear a su padre en Aluminé, Neuquén.
