У центрі сюжету — студентка медичного факультету Олівія «Лів» Мур, для якої наслідком однієї з вечірок стало перетворення в зомбі. Життєрадісна і активна Лів, тепер схожа на представника готів — з блідою шкірою, темними колами навколо очей і майже білим волоссям. Вона влаштовується на роботу в офіс коронера, доктора Раві Чакрабарті, щоб мати доступ до мізків, які їй доводиться їсти, щоб підтримувати свою людську сутність.
