У готелі Хакслі поселився дивний постоялець, який не платить за житло, вживає алкоголь великими дозами й ходить у бар у халаті. Зважаючи на це все, великий шахіст Аркадій Балаган вирішив улаштуватися тут надовго і в чому криється причина такої його поведінки? Проблемний постоялець страждає агорафобією – страхом відкритого простору, тому не може покинути готель. Таку хворобу він одержав після того, як став свідком убивства своєї нареченої. Зненацька Аркадій одержує інтригуючу, але дуже небезпечну пропозицію. Можливо, тепер він зможе знайти вбивцю своєї коханої. Складна й небезпечна партія, схоже, стане переломним моментом у житті шахіста.Сюжет
