Творці документального фільму "Trashed" лауреата премії "Оскар" спільно з Джеремі Айронсом намагаються вивчити проблему забруднення навколишнього середовища - землі, повітря і води, різними відходами і зрозуміти, як впливає це забруднення на харчовий ланцюг та навколишнє середовище. У фільмі показано багато фактів, які стосуються серйозної загрози для нашого здоров'я.Джеремі Айронс побував в різних куточках нашої планети, намагаючись показати нам, в якому жалюгідному стані перебуває зараз планета Земля. З одного боку прогрес і процвітання, з іншого - гори сміття, якими ніхто не хоче займатися.
Фільм Сміття побудований у вигляді серйозної розмови Джеремі Айронсона з жителями землі - починаючи з Ісландії і закінчуючи Індонезією. У числі співрозмовників багато вчених, політиків і простих людей, здоров'я яких похитнулося в результаті забруднення навколишнього середовища відходами. Для візуального та емоційного сприйняття стрічка є одночасно жахливою і прекрасною. Але в підсумку вона закінчується посланням надії. Фільм демонструє, що небезпеку можна перемогти за допомогою довгострокових проектів, які створять більше робочих місць в сфері переробки відходів.
