Знаменитий мюзикл, написаний в 1960 році американськими драматургами Дейлі Вассерманом, Джоном Деріоном і композитором Мітчем Лі (за книгою Мігеля де Сервантеса «Хитромудрий ідальго Дон Кіхот з Ла Манчі»), і поставлений на Бродвеї п'ять років по тому. З тих пір "Людина з Ла Манчі" отримав безліч нагород, серед яких і престижну премію "Тоні". У різні роки в мюзиклі були зайняті такі знамениті артисти, як Пласідо Домінго (Дон Кіхот) і Менді Патинкин (Санчо). У 1972 році була створена кіноверсія "Людини з Ламанчі", де в головних ролях знялися Пітер О `Тул (Сервантес і Дон Кіхот), Софі Лорен (Альдонса) і Джеймс Коко (Санчо). До речі, головний герой мюзиклу аж ніяк не Дон Кіхот, а автор великої книги Мігель Сервантес. Кинутий за борги до тюрми, він від нудьги розповідає своїм товаришам по укладенню історію про поміщика по імені Алонсо Кехано, який став мандрівним лицарем і називає себе Дон Кіхотом ...
