Повнометражний дебют ірландських режисерів Томма Мура і Нори Твомі і студії Cartoon Saloon, п'ятиразового номінанта на Премію «Оскар».9 століття, Ірландія переживає навалу вікінгів, які руйнують місцеві монастирі. З одного з них дивом рятується старий монах, який працює над написанням священної книги. Він знаходить прихисток в абатстві Келлс, де зі своїм дядьком мешкає 12-річний Брендан.
