Дев'ятирічний хлопчик стає свідком жорстокого вбивства: прямо на його очах в туалеті філадельфійського вокзалу дві людини безжалісно зарізали молодого чоловіка. Виявляється, убитий був таємним агентом відділу по боротьбі з наркотиками. Тепер хлопчина - єдиний свідок, який може допомогти детективові Джону Буку знайти злочинців.Обличчя вбивць назавжди закарбувалися в дитячу пам'ять. І хлопчик побачив їх знову, коли його привезли для надання свідчень в місцеву поліцейську ділянку - він побачив фото вбивці на дошці пошани поліцейського управління. З цієї хвилини за маленьким свідком і його єдиним захисником, інспектором Буком, починається полювання.
